In this module we will look at how we integrate forwards into the attacking line after a wide strike move. The way defensive systems are in the modern game means we need to utilise forwards as attacking players. I’ll show you a simple structure that you can put into practice.

Wayne Smith, a rugby genius. I love that inside option keeping the defense honest. Question, why run off 10 on that reload phase after the wide strike? Won’t the defensive linespeed be quicker there to try and put pressure on that 10 and runners off him?
Superb module, my only question is that often they are committing one player to clear out the ruck. In most games that will be ruck lost. Any thoughts?

difficult to separate backs from forwards
si se ejecuta la opcion A (jugar con el 9) , se deshace la estructura del 10 ? como se reiniciaria es ese caso ? osea el 10 quedaria solo y solamente quedaria armada la estructura del 12.?
This module has inspired my game strategy for this season. I have a very athletic forwards pack and this system works great!

As the other guys have said already, this is a great video. Admittedly though, I had to watch it a few times to completely understand the structure and think out who went where of different situations. Something I have tried to do as a coach is integrate the forwards into an attacking game plan that isn’t limited to ‘pick an go’ around the edge of the ruck. What this structure with a flat, inside, and late runners off a playmaker does is clearly set out the role of each player while empowering the players to make their own decisions in attack whether it be to attack out wide or tight. From my experience this makes the players enjoy the game more because they are living in the moment opposed to following a rigid pattern like crash, crash, wide regardless of how a team defends. As always a great presentation by Wayne Smith, asking for the players opinions while allowing the players to make their own decisions without criticism.
This in my opinion is one of the best modules on here, both the theory and the means of delivery via practice come together well, so that players have a focus and role off first phase, which is realistic to their prior effort and applicable to games. Worked really well in a session. This its why its a good site, keep them coming.
Great module. Timing ideal as we are progressing as a team from lead and late and while successful we were losing our shape on wide ball. Great way to keep threats in the 15 mtr wide channels. Thanks Wayne
