Warren Gatland was this week named the BBC’s ’Coach of the Year and signed a new contract with Wales to go beyond the 2019 RWC. We thought we better give you some more of the man of the moment. In this 25min session on how to remove the opposition threat at the breakdown, Gatland covers clear out technique and demonstrates progressive drills to improve your chances of winning those all important collisions.
Here’s what Warren says: “This is about contact technique, it’s not something that needs to be done at a hundred miles an hour, a low tempo, low impact approach will help give your players confidence. Once your players have gained a bit of confidence and belief in their technique, you can up the tempo and intensity so when it comes to the game, they can do it naturally.”
